The Uninhibited Generation, what's it all about by John Seeley

Why are youth spilling every private detail of their lives on blogs? Is the technology the cause? No, I believe that’s it’s because today’s youth is yearning for connection and acceptance. There outlet is the internet. The Internet offers the freedom to express yourself, while maintaining anonymity Some youth don’t want anonymity, but stardom instead. They want people to know their secret desires. The blog doesn’t require honesty. So some of the bragging might not even be true.

The uninhibited blogging seems to reflect the need to express who they really are. Their feelings are being put out for all to see, and for them to find support. In some ways technology has isolated us. Instead of playing outside with friends, you might be finding your competition on your video game. With 500 channels of TV, you can find something to keep you busy, with out ever leaving your home. The Internet offers myriad possibilities to find all sorts of things, and the latest is acceptance. We all seek it. We have the need to express ourselves to find acceptance. One of the other reasons for this phenomenon is that parents are less available. There are more two working parent families, and single parent families, causing more kids to feel isolated. With all the pressure in today’s society, kids are feeling desperate for love, acceptance and guidance. So they will continue to search in what ways they know, till they find what they’re looking for.
